Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome

CFS is a complicated disorder characterized by profound fatigue that doesn't improve with bed rest and may worsen with physical or mental activity. Of all chronic illnesses, CFS is one of the most mysterious. Unlike infections, it has no clear cause. CFS is diagnosed more commonly in women than in men. However, it's unclear whether CFS affects women more frequently or women simply report it more often than men do.

No Explanation

An estimated 500,000 people in the United States have a CFS-like condition. Many causes are suspected but the real cause is not known
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Although CFS is most common in people 25 to 45 years old, it can affect people of all ages. CFS may occur after infections such as a cold, bronchitis, mononucleosis, hepatitis or intestinal illness. It can start during or shortly after a period of high stress or come on gradually without any clear starting point and any obvious cause. CFS is an influenza-like condition that can drain your energy and sometimes last for years. People previously healthy and full of energy may experience extreme fatigue, weakness and headaches as well as painful joints, muscles and lymph nodes.

The cause is unknown

So far, Scientists have not been able to identify the cause or causes of CFS. Some of the factors suspected include:  viral infections (Epestein-Barr virus, human herpes virus 6, and mouse leukemia virus), hypoglycemia, allergies to environmental elements, dysfunction in the immune system, changes in the levels of hormones produced in the hypothalamus, pituitary glands or adrenal glands, mild, and chronic low blood pressure (hypotension). No conclusive links to these factors have been established yet.

Through our excellent professional affiliates, you can receive a wide variety of complimentary medicine, that includes: myotherapy, Chiropractic treatment, clinical hypnosis, Shiatsu massage, and biofeedback among others.

Use of Alternative Medicine

Because the cause is unknown, treatment with conventional drugs is difficult. However, alternative and complementary medicine can offer a variety of natural approaches aiming at stimulating the body’s ability to fight the disease. For example acupuncture can strengthen the weakened energy meridians, known to increase serotonin in the brain, and stimulate the hypothalamic-adrenal axis. Homeopathic remedies are believed to stimulate the innate natural defense systems. Both homeopathy and acupuncture can be used effectively to get rid of accumulated toxins in your systems and improve the overall psychological and emotional aspects in addition to the physical aspects of CFS.  Traditional western treatment, acupuncture, and homeopathy can work side by side with no interactions.
